Abstract:
This paper analyzes protest songs about the murder of journalist Ján Kuciak and his girlfriend Martina Kušníková according to decreasing listeners. Ján Kuciak was an investigative journalist, who worked on detecting a tax fraud, extending up to the government sets in Slovakia. There is 762,000 distinction in views if we compare The Wanted Truth and The Million Euros songs, with The Million Euros less than 15,000 views. It is a very big difference between the most popular hip-hop song and the folk- rock piece. The murder itself is in hip-hop song just indicated, it is a catalyst for overpressure of social forces in the Slovak socio-political world too. The murder is therefore an excuse for discharging the frustration from the nationwide situation. A more intimate, poetic song The Millions Euros addresses subjective view on murder – it has no potential to become protest song, because it is less canvassing. After evaluating, we came to the conclusion that for this nationwide situation was more suited an anger than pathos.
